Like A Sky View

A series of 7 digital photographs of the view around my former home and a part of a 4 part poem collection showing my love for nature and displaying a sense of nostalgia for my family. The poem is shown below.

In all of the years that we have stayed
We continued to watch in the shade
We have witnessed many different sights
In the mornings, days, evenings and nights
Clear skies, clouds drifting, fog all around
New skies to see within the background
Never anything like what we see here
Once faraway clouds have come so near
Looks to us like we are in the sky
But then the fog goes away, goodbye

Cloudscape

A series of 3 digital photographs of the cloudscape during a trip to visit my family in Louisiana. As a person who has done a lot of traveling throughout the states, I am always amazed by the aerial view of the sky. Clouds are their own landscape in the sky with the ability to show the passing of time while also keeping the view hidden from the viewer.

Kanagawa's Great Wave

The idea of creating a historic piece of art using a different medium is what led to the creation of this piece. History is able to provide information to future generations about the lifestyle, thoughts, culture and lessons from each era and location. History isn't always necessarily taught through writing as it can also be through other methods such as art or music.

SL Logo

The SL Logo is actually a logo I created as a test design using my initials before I decided to become an artist. It is meant to show that I enjoy creating both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. The idea is that even letters can be used to create an art piece.

Ink Self Portrait

This is one of my self portraits done in ink. The idea was not only to create a work of myself but it also acted as a test using a medium that I was unfamiliar with. Using an ink medium provided a chance and experience to test my use of the elements and principles of art mainly through the use of lines, shapes and patterns in a medium that cannot be erased easily. Making a mistake is one thing. Accepting and handling it is another thing.

Self Portrait

This self portrait is based more off of my inspirations to become an artist. As a person who watched a lot of Japanese anime and video games as child, I was heavily inspired by Japanese artwork and animation growing up. These childhood inspirations have taught me that it is important to not only share your own story but to also listen to the stories of other people.
